About Walailak University

Founded in 1992, Walailak University (WU) is located in Tha Sala District in Thailand. The university was named after Princess Chulabhorn Walailak. With more than 3,500 acres, Walailak University has the largest single campus of any university in Thailand.

WU is organised into 14 schools and faculties: graduate studies, agricultural technology, allied health sciences, architecture and design, dentistry, education and learning innovation, engineering and resources, informatics, liberal arts, management, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, political science and law, public health and sciences.

To supplement students' study, WU has built certain infrastructure. With 750 inpatient beds and an estimated 1 million annual patients, the recently built Walailak University Hospital is the largest medical centre in Thailand’s Upper South. The 160-acre grounds houses four centres, one each for heart disease, cancer, dermatology, and geriatrics.

For students studying law, there’s a moot court where students can actively practice law, imitating real-life court proceedings.

There’s also a university farm on campus, which is designed to provide practical teaching and research facilities for the courses and programmes in the school of agricultural technology and other schools. There are modern, fully-equipped science laboratories for undergraduate and postgraduate research programmes in science and technology.

On campus, students have access to the newly renovated sports complex, which provides a space for students interested in running, swimming, biking, or weight training. There’s an Olympic-size pool, designed for both competitions and recreational use.

In an effort to be a more sustainable campus, WU has electric shuttles, which run throughout campus, connecting academic and residential areas with the city of Tha Sala.
